Moon in Leo, Friday, May 1, brings a celebratory and special feeling to the start of a new month and the weekend, as the moon in a passionate and playful fire sign forms a Yod aspect pattern with spiritual Neptune in Pisces and abundant Jupiter conjunct powerful Pluto in Capricorn, as well as a sextile aspect to Venus, planet of beauty and pleasure, in Gemini. When I was a young child, it was still a common tradition to make small baskets of flowers on May Day to bring home to our mothers, and to dance around a May Pole at school. Some cultures and spiritual groups have large bonfires on Beltane, to bless cattle (it’s Taurus season!) being turned out to pasture and to mark the beginning of summer. The Yod aspect pattern formed by planets in fire, earth, and water signs is divided by the moon in Leo opposing Mars in the air sign of Aquarius. All four elements are anchored in a configuration which supports consecrating and committing to creative intention and action directed toward productive growth and change. Social distancing may prevent you from a group activity, but you can mark this May Day with your own personal version of a Beltane celebration.
